Facilities

Facilities at VASCSC serve the motto of the Centre -'Question, Explore, Discover' reflecting the three steps that lead to a deeper understanding of science. The Centre has always made efforts to stimulate and encourage people to 'question' various intriguing phenomena that occur around them. This 'questioning' when followed by 'exploring' leads to 'discovery' of new facts.
Facilities at the Centre truly serve this purpose.

Laboratories

Laboratories at the Centre have been one of the nodal points in encouraging scientific development among all, especially students and teachers. Emphasis is placed on encouraging the students to question, investigate, collect and organize information about various scientific phenomena.

Programmes in the laboratories include school projects for students from CBSE as well as state board, training for syllabus related practicals and experiments, making models, and much more. They are also free to try their hands at new experiments, that is, investigatory projects. Necessary guidance is provided to students and teachers by the experts at the Centre. The laboratories are also involved in developing teaching material and learning aids for students and children.

Library

The Centre's library houses a diverse collection of approximately 15,000 Science and Mathematics reference books, including children's books and materials for high school and college students. It also features numerous science journals and magazines to cater to the varied reading needs and interests of all age groups. The library's collection is continuously updated with new books and reference materials.

To foster a love for reading books, the library conducts the popular "Book Buddies" program during the Summer Program.

VASCSC offers annual library memberships for all age groups.

Quadrangle

The Quadrangle space at the Centre is open for all and features a collection of models, participatory exhibits, teaching aids, and experiments. These exhibits are designed to teach various concepts in science and mathematics, offering interactive experiences that make learning enjoyable and voluntary. The exhibits include puzzles, interactive science displays, illusions, observational and study displays, charts, and more. Several exhibits are solitary games with clearly defined goals on small cards. Some games involve assembling pieces into a simple object, such as a cube or a specific shape, while others require completing a task in the fewest possible moves.

Additionally, the Quadrangle includes an aquarium and an aviary for observing birds, fish, and other living organisms, attracting people of all age groups.

These participatory exhibits are especially valuable for schools as they provide a simple, low-cost method of generating student interest in science and mathematics, while also teaching problem-solving skills.

Innovation Hub

The Innovation Hub at VASCSC aims to foster a spirit of inquiry, innovation, and creativity in children. Supported by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, this facility includes the following:

Discovery Hall: Features interactive exhibits that create excitement about science through exploration.
Idea Lab: The 'Kabad Se Jugad' and 'Tod Phod Jod Corner' provide basic facilities for pursuing creative and innovative activities, including model making, basic science experiments, and designing and fabricating useful gadgets.
Design Studio: Offers a creative environment for designing innovative products.
Hall of Fame: Showcases innovative ideas and products that have significantly impacted our lives, along with their respective inventors and innovators.

Science Shop

VASCSC has developed a wide range of Teaching Learning Material (TLM), especially for teachers, students, and schools to develop curiosity and interest for science and mathematics.
