Our Work

Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC) is a pioneering Community Science Centre, established in the 1960s by the eminent space scientist, Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai (Father of Indian Space Programme) to encourage scientific thinking and innovative science teaching since past 50 years. Its mandate is to promote among students, teachers and public an understanding of fundamental concepts involved in science education through different processes of inquiry.
Over the years, the Centre has combined formal and non-formal techniques of education to formulate many innovative methods for a better understanding Science & Mathematics.

A team of VASCSC Resource person(s) will be visiting your school to conduct one-day STEM outreach programme that will include STEM demonstrations, hands-on activities and much more.

WAAH Community Science Centre
With support from WAAH Foundation , Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC) sets up 3 WAAH Community Science Centres (WCSC): 1. Prakash High School run by Bareja Kelavni Mandal at Bareja 2. Ashish Vidyalaya in Kesharpura, Sabarkantha 3. Shri T.O.Patel High School in Dharampur, Kadi VASCSC looks forward to execute the setting up more WCSCs already in the planning phase.
STEM Education for All
With support from Kostwein India (KICPL), VASCSC offers 20 STEM workshops for children from underprivileged background. 3 such STEM workshops have been conducted till date and rest are in the pipeline for the year.
Promoting STEM Hands-on Learning in Schools of Gujarat
With support from TIPL (Truetzschler) India, VASCSC offers 12 Teachers Training Workshops, 60 STEM Outreach Schools and 50 School Group Visits at VASCSC. The project implementation kickstarted with 3 Outreach Programme, 1 Teacher Training and 1 Group Visit already conducted along with the further schedule in pipeline for the year.
Joy of Science - Mobile Science Lab & Exploratory
'Joy of Science - Mobile Science Lab & Exploratory' (MSL) is a unique lab-on-wheels which aims to take the lab experience to underprivileged children, right in their school premises. Students got opportunity for hands-on learning which would be helpful in understanding difficult concepts with fun and ease. With support from NCSTC, Dept. of Science and Technology, the Centre initiated MSL to reach out to schools in Gujarat, especially those having no or very little access to laboratory facilities. The project was successful with participation of 16166 students and 547 teachers from upper primary and secondary schools. The vehicle used for the Mobile Lab was procured from grant by KHS Machinery.
Teacher Training Workshops for JNV ATL Schools
In collaboration with AIF, VASCSC, as a Technical Partner conducted 6-days online Teachers Training workshop for 115 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) to build the capacity of the teachers for setting up their School Atal Tinkering Lab. 218 teachers from 15 states participated in the training.
